October is CRAZY full of Birthdays in my life. It’s amazing… I realize more and more every day how many amazing people are in my life based on the amounts of cards I’m sending out, “Happy Birthdays” I’m sending through technology, and parties I’m attending. I take the amount of quality people in my life as a sign that I must be doing something right! Today–almost two weeks after my last real blog post–I just really want to take a moment and say “Happy Birthday” to some of the people who have made me one of the happiest people in existence (I swear, it’s true!)! Thank you to everyone in my life, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you all!
First of all, I’d like to wish a wonderful birthday to the man at the top of this page, Mr. Zachary Walker Hanson, who turns 28 today! He and his brothers have been a major influence in my life, in the way I compose myself and the way I approach art. I took that picture a week ago, when my mom and I went to Lawrence, KS to walk with Hanson and then went to my 9th Hanson show! It was so much fun, and I can’t wait to get more people into their music!
Melody is one of my darling Littles in the Eta Iota chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. She approached me with a mix of sarcasm and charm, and has been in my life now for almost four years! I’m such a lucky girl!
Jared was one of the awesome kids I was lucky enough to meet on my first day in the halls of St. Pius X High School. We were both very nerdy and in the very nerdy classes, so I’d say we met on common ground. He took my sister to junior prom and then accompanied me to my senior homecoming, and I miss him!
I met Nick in grade school. His sister was in my Girl Scout troop, so I have known who he was virtually since I moved to KC in 1997. That’s 16 years. And we have been pretty close since middle school, something that is very rare. Plus, his dad grew up right down the street from my dad. So, we’re kind of like blood brothers. I am very lucky to have had him take me to my senior prom, even though he had to drive ALL THE WAY from Mizzou to do it.
Parker Pennybaker has been in my life since our freshman year. He was always a great person to talk to, and we kept in touch even though he ended up leaving Pius. He escorted me to my senior sweetheart dance (AND got schooled by my little brother in Guitar Hero in my basement.).
Kevin. I have known who he was since 8th grade, although we officially met our freshman year at Pius. He thought it was weird I knew who he was. This girl never forgets a [good looking] face. I somehow conned him into going to sweetheart with me freshman year (Oh yeah, ERIN wrote him a note posing as me, asking him to go with me!), and then he asked me (with a note) to go with him to homecoming our sophomore year. My mom is still convinced we will get married one day.
Mr. Jack has been in my life since 7th grade. We went to different Catholic grade schools, but our mutual friend Alex told us that we were the boy and girl versions of each other. She then had us [awkwardly] dance at a middle school mixer. I asked him to junior sweetheart with a threatening note (because I’m awesome) and he asked me to junior prom with an equally threatening note (because that’s how we roll). We have (THANKFULLY) stayed that way for all of these years! I am very lucky to have this weirdo in my life, and I cannot wait to see what our future has in store! Hopefully it involves drunken nights puking in each other’s front yards. And sword fights. LOTS of sword fights.
Yes, I know. I’m weird. But this week also happens to be the half birthdays of all three Schneider siblings! So, HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY to my beautiful twin sister, Erin! And HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY to my oddball younger brother, Ian! I love you both! I would also like to wish a VERY, VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little brother, Nathan Christopher. He joined the angels on October 24th, 1994 and would be 19 years old (and a freshman in college!). My, how time flies. I love all three of you weirdos!
